Ana Wien
Ana Wien nació en Costa Rica. Estudió pintura y grabado en la Universidad de Costa Rica, Facultad de Bellas Artes. Comenzó su carrera artística en el año 1970 definiendo su estilo a través de los años, en los talleres de los afamados maestros de la plástica costarricense Manuel de la Cruz González Luján, Francisco Amighetti y Rafa Fernández. Ha realizado más de 70 exposiciones individuales y colectivas en Costa Rica, Estados Unidos y Europa; entre ellos, París, Barcelona y Copenhagen. Como integrante de la asociación de artistas franceses, “Artists and Life”, ha participado en tres muestras grupales con fines benéficos en Toit de l’Arche de la Défense y Espace Art et Liberté en Paris. Ha sido elegida para participar, en sus dos últimas versiones consecutivas, en la Bienal “Latin Views” que se lleva a cabo en la Galería Alexey von Schlippe de la Universidad de Connecticut, Estados Unidos. Sus obras se encuentran en diversas colecciones privadas en América y Europa.

Ana Wien was born in Costa Rica. She studied painting and engraving at the University of Costa Rica, Faculty of Fine Arts. She began her artistic career in 1970 defining her style over the years, in the workshops of the famous masters of Costa Rican plastic arts Manuel de la Cruz González Luján, Francisco Amighetti and Rafa Fernández. She has made more than 70 solo and group exhibitions in Costa Rica, the United States and Europe; among them, in Paris, Barcelona and Copenhagen. As a member of the association of French artists, “Artists and Life”, she has participated in three group shows for charity in Toit de l’Arche de la Défense and Espace Art et Liberté in Paris. She has been chosen to participate, in its last two consecutive events, in the Biennial “Latin Views” that takes place in the Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of the University of Connecticut, Her works are in various private collections in America and Europe.

Libertad Absoluta
Recurre la abstracción para darle al espectador la oportunidad de sentir
esa rica libertad que ella experimentó frente al lienzo al crearlas
“Cuando me pongo pintar sólo me dejo ir lo que plasmo
es lo que sale de mi corazón. En ese momento, me siento en
LIBERTAD ABSOLUTA.
Las obras están cargadas de energía positiva, que simbolizan partes
de la vida, partes de la naturaleza, del mundo animal, de la convivencia
con la gente, con el medio en que vivimos siempre, buscando transmitir
esa fuerza, esa esperanza de quese puede salir adelante sin importar
lo que estemos enfrentando”.

En cuanto los materiales, hace alarde de su larga trayectoria como esa artista
la que siempre le ha gustado experimentar dar un toque de distinción sus creaciones.
En esta ocasión recurre al metal, al hierro al acero, trabajados con esmaltes, resinas,
acrílicos otros materiales.
“Soy multifacética, no me quedo quedita, yo tengo que estar experimentando,
inventando. He probado con todo tipo de materiales objetos porque así consigo enriquecer mi arte”.
De tal forma, “LIBERTAD ABSOLUTA” es una serie consistente en su lenguaje,
de rico colorido texturas; que, además, es una emotiva invitación ser libres, enfóquenos
en lo bueno de la vida en la certeza de que se puede salir adelante de toda circunstancia,
porque siempre habrá un mañana mejor.
Ahora se muestran mucho más brillantes fuertes, con los que alude la fuerza vital
de la vida que tanto la inspira.
“Los colores no han variado mucho, pero ahora son másprofundos más expresivos”.
ABSOLUTE FREEDOM
This new series of previously unseen works by artist Ana Wien is a celebration
of freedom—of keeping hope alive and focusing on the good and beautiful aspects of life,
despite any difficulties or problems. With this spirit within us, she invites us
to hold fast to the conviction that there will always be a better tomorrow,
just as the sun rises for everyone.
“When I start to paint, I simply let go; what I capture is what comes
from my heart. In that moment, I feel ABSOLUTE FREEDOM.
The works are charged with positive energy, symbolizing facets of life,
nature, the animal kingdom, and our interactions with people and
the environment we inhabit.”
She always seeks to convey that inner strength and the hope we can move
forward, no matter what we are facing. She turns to abstraction to give
the viewer a chance to feel the rich sense of freedom she experienced
before the canvas while creating these pieces.
Regarding materials, she draws upon her extensive career as an artist
who has always loved to experimentand add a distinctive touch
to her creations. Here, she utilizes metal—specifically, iron and steel— working with
enamels, resins, acrylics, and other materials.
“I am multifaceted; I don’t stay still. I must be experimenting and inventing.
I tried all kinds of materials and objects because that is how I enrich my art.”
Thus, “ABSOLUTE FREEDOM” is a series with a consistent artistic language,
rich in color and texture. It serves as an emotional invitation to be free and to
focus on the good things in life—on the certainty that we can overcome
any circumstance, because there will always be a better tomorrow.
Now they appear much brighter and bolder,
evoking the vital life force that serves as such a great source of inspiration.
