Ferruccio Polacco

Ferruccio Polacco nació en Ferrara, Italia, en 1917. En el arte es autodidacta. Vivió en Venecia hasta que emigra a la Argentina en 1940. Recibe el premio a escultor extranjero en el Salón Nacional de 1958, y más de veinte premios en su larga trayectoria, entre ellos el Premio Trabucco otorgado por la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, el más importante desde hace una década en la Argentina. Hasta la década del cincuenta, su obra es figurativa con una simpleza de formas extraordinaria, comienza luego con la abstracción que domina las últimas cinco décadas de su trayectoria. Construye sus obras como integradas al espacio, que ha sido la gran revolución de la escultura en el Siglo XX.

Ferruccio Polacco was born in Ferrara, Italia in 1917. He lived in Venice until his immigration to Argentina. He was a self-taught artist. He lived in Venice until he immigrate to Argentina in 1940. He received the prize as foreign sculptor in in the Salón Nacional en 1958 and more than twenty prizes in his long trajectory, among them the Trabucco Prize from the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, the most important in a decade in Argentina. Until the 1950s, his work is figurative with an extraordinary simplicity of form. He later began to practice abstraction and this style dominated the his last five decades of work. As part of the great revolution in sculpture in the twentieth century, he constructed works that were integrated into space.
