THE RECLINING WOMAN
The recliner in which she sits, the calf-length green dress that covers her and even the ambiguous expression and black hair indicate that this woman is a great student and lover of art. In her own way, she replicates artistic tradition called “Reclining Woman” that begins with The Clothed Maja (1797) in the Romantic style of the Spain’s Franciso Goya; the The Spanish Ballet (1862) the early impressionism of France’s Édouard Manet; Portrait of a Reclining Young Woman(1901) a drawing by the Austrian Gustav Klimt; Reclining Woman(1910) the beautiful pre-Raphaelite work by the England’s John Maier Collier; Reclining Woman(1922) by the France’s Fernand Léger; The Reclining Woman (1960) a woodcut by the American Millicent Krouse; and The Reclining Woman Reading (1960) a surrealist painting by the Spanish-French Pablo Picasso.

LA MUJER RECOSTADA
El sillón en la cual se sienta, el vestido verde que la cubre hasta las pantorrillas y hasta la expresión ambigua y el pelo negro indican que esta mujer es una gran estudiante y aficionada del arte. En su propia manera, ella representa la tradición artística llamada “la mujer recostada” que empieza con La maja vestida (1797) del estilo romántico del español Francisco Goya; y continúa con El ballet español (1862) del impresionismo temprano del francés Édouard Manet; Retrato de una joven recostada (1901) dibujo de austriaco Gustav Klimt; Mujer recostada (1910) obra bella y pre-Rafaelista del inglés John Maier Collier; Mujer recostada (1922) del cubismo del francés Fernand Léger; La mujer recostada (1960) grabado de madera de la norteamericana Millicent Krouse; y La mujer recostada leyendo (1960) pintura surrealista del español-francés Pablo Picasso.

Nora Seilicovich
Nora Seilicovich nace en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Se gradúa como arquitecta en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, y cursa estudios de dibujo, pintura y grabado en los estudios de Vicente Forte, Antonio Seguí y Aída Carballo, y en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes “Prilidiano Pueyrredón”. Ella vive actualmente en el popular y atractivo barrio de La Boca donde tiene su estudio y taller, y donde también expone de forma permanente parte de su colección. Comparte su tiempo entre su trabajo como arquitecta y las actividades relacionadas con las artes plásticas. Desde el año 1980 realizó numerosas exposiciones y muestras, tanto individuales como colectivas, en la Argentina y en el exterior. Varias de sus obras están en manos de coleccionistas privados.
Nora Seilicovich was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Buenos Aires, and studied drawing, painting and print making in the workshops of Vicente Forte, Antonio Seguí y Aída Carballo, and in the “Prilidiano Pueyrredón” School of Fine Arts. She lives in the popular and attractive neighborhood of La Boca where she has her workshop and where she permanently exhibits part of her collection. She divides her time between her work as an architect and her activities related to the visual arts. Since 1980, she has had numerous shows, individual and collective in Argentina and in other countries. Some of her work can be found in private collections.
